Southern Comforts Fall Festival

It's a beautiful fall weekend here in North Carolina
temps are in the 70's with an awesome blue sky!
I hope to get out and enjoy it this afternoon but I've got
what we call " the creepin crud " of a I'm in front
of the computer checking out what all of you have been up to...
maybe a walk later... right now I want to tell you about my Saturday....

Sandra and I spent yesterday at the 1st Annual
Southern Comforts Antique & Fall Festival
in Salisbury, NC
A perfect day for it too!
the collage above is just a portion of the venders that
were set up inside and outside of the Rowan County Fairgrounds
antiques, junk, primitives
vintage jewelry, handcrafted items
fresh produce, flowers
and good food!
Southern Comforts is an fabulous antique shop
located in Concord, NC

we met a lot of great people who share a
love for things from the past...
two of our favorite junkin friends were there
first...Tammy from ReFunked Junk

she had a wonderful eye catching display set up outside
great cabinets & farm tables
we love her re-funked/re-purposed/altered jewelry
she was very busy the whole time we were in her space

she had a fab collection of jewels for Halloween!!

loved these....

I wish I had a link for you to go and see more of her stuff
BUT...she doesn't have a blog yet...
she's a teacher and very busy...
but I'm working on her to get one started
This guy had the best looking produce!
all grown locally !! it looked like the produce stand in June not October!!
I was impressed and came home with two great "big purple" tomatoes
can't wait to have that sandwich later...yummers!

fall flowers and pumpkins were set up
outside too...they had already sold a ton of stuff when
I snapped this pic...

The other friend set up there was
rock star junker- Beth - from
her space was inside & let's just say
AWESOME!!! She totally rocks the vintage displays!!
I just loved all the screen doors lining the back wall
chippy cabinets,wooden stools and boxes
with straw tucked in every little nook & crannie
bittersweet and lucious smelling candles

I wanted to take one of everything home with me...

I'm saving up for her
Christmas Tyme @ The Markeplace
Dec 3 - 5
back at her shop in Marsvhille
if you are local you should plan to attend!!
Here's the loot we did come home with...

a few more jewels for my altered jewelry I'm
making for the show

and all this ...

vintage suitcase ,seltzer bottle & a great old basket
old frames for chalkboards and cork boards
feedsacks and ticking fabric for totes and table runners
vintage sheet music for wreaths and ornaments
playing cards and game pieces for altered jewelry
cookie cutters, a vintage leather coin purse
clock faces & a cool vintage document box
alot of "smalls" we junkers call it
It was a good day!!!

Grab our Button!!

Happy Tuesday blogger friends!
I've just completed the process of creating a button for JUNKWILD.
I appreciate all the comments on the photos from the last post.
I actually created three different buttons and decided to go with
"sweet horse" since this was the overall favorite. I'm sure I'll change it
up every so often and use the Chippy Chair and the Rusty Scroll too.
It's easy ...just click on the button tab and add to your blog!
I found all the how to's @ Blogger Central no more cut and paste!!

I'm working on my Halloween Decorating post ....Stay Tuned!
Here's a sneak peek at the little bit of Halloween Decorating I've done so far....

My First Book Page Wreath...made from a 1943
copy of a Gregg Shorthand College handbook
although you can't tell in this pic...
the graphics are pretty cool!
I used a tutorial from

here's my mantel...
I made another small book page wreath to hang over the antique mirror
and a Trick-or-Treat Banner
letter cards from itsybitsandpieces
and Halloween graphics are from The Graphics Fairy
and cool Halloween subway art
that I created on
I'm still working on this mantel display....

This rusty plant holder is one of the great pieces
I picked up at
a few weeks ago during Beth's Harvest Thyme Event.
(If you haven't seen that post check it out here)
I LOVE it here on my front porch with the pumpkins!!

A perfect grey pumpkin, a cool book cover for the season
and my chalkboard door with an autumn verse

the woods are
full of fairies
the sea is full
of fish
the trees are full of
golden leaves
lets make an
autumn wish

( I borrowed this from Paige @ Simple Thoughts)

my new favorite thing is subway art...
I really like how this came out.
it was  fun and FREE!!

Hope everyone is having a great week!

Look what I found.....

Old Photos!!
This past weekend while clearing out clutter
for the garage sale I came across these old photos.
I actually took all of these shots myself...yep little ole me...
the first one
~  goats on a dirtroad ~
was taken back in 1987
on my Grandparents farm here in North Carolina
I love this pic! I remember the moment I took it..
My Grandmother ( MaMaw) was standing right beside me....
I miss her. I miss the farm.
They had a great farm!
( today there are about 100 homes where the farm used to be ) :-(
I had forgotten about this pic until I found it in a box
I'm so glad I have it!

Now granted~  these are not professional pics but
they were taken with an old 35MM Camera
(a good one)
but still....
these were just prints that I found in a box
scanned them into my computer
then played around in picnik ( my new addiction)
and voila! I have great old photos that I love,
and can now share with all my blogger friends!

This one
I'll call it...
~ stumpkin ~
was taken about the same time
at Blacks Produce in Denver, NC
Just a few miles from where I grew up.

~ blueridge beauties ~

These beautiful horses were grazing in their pasture
along the Blue Ridge Parkway near Boone, NC
My sweetie and I stopped to take in the scenery and
snap a few was beautiful!!
I love how the one horse is looking at me...:-)

~metro expo~
This photo was taken at the Metrolina Antique Show
in Charlotte, NC back in the late 80's as well.
I love that show and still try to go every month if I can.

~ sweet horse~
This sweetie was also along the Blue Ridge Parkway
she came right up to the fence when we stopped.
I love this pic...
 the barbed wire fence
the bark on the tree
the grey/white color of the horse
and she's looking right at me!

~ pretty little pinks~
I was working for Lake Norman Magazine
at the time I took this ~ the editor liked it so much
she published it in the monthly edition.
The pink daisies were growing along side this
old post in my Mom's backyard.

So finding these old photos has fallen right into
my project of changing things around on the blog.
I already changed the background & added a new header makes it EASY!!
next I want to create a button for JUNKWILD.
So here are a few I'm playing around with...
I'm not sure how to get the whole "button thing" to work
so if any of you have any tips please pass them on...
Let me know what you think of these!

This beautiful, old, chippy metal chair
sat under a giant oak tree in my backyard
in Davidson for about 8 years
I sold it ( I know!...what was I thinkin'!!)
It was about 6 different colors
I about cried when I saw this photo

This one( and the next) are of an old iron
chippy white
scroll bracket I have for sale
in the JUNKWILD space @ Treasures On Main.

I would love to hear what you think of these photos!
Did you have a favorite?

late addition...
I was going to post pics of my front porch decorated for Halloween...
but my daughter has been suffering with a toothache the last few days
and now needs a root canal :-(
so I spent most of the last two days
taking care of  Sweet Hannah...(my Grandbaby).
I am linking this post to
picnik is a big inspiration for me right now
to get out and take alot more photos !!
(Hope that's not to lame!)
Stay tuned for Halloween Decor pics to come !!

Thanks for stopping by!
